About this layer

Dispersed camping means camping outside a developed campground, usually for free and with no services. This layer maps 11,794 free and undeveloped camping spots: primitive campsites from BLM's National Recreation Sites data and no-fee dispersed camping areas from USDA Forest Service recreation sites. These are official listings, not user-submitted pins, so they reflect places the agencies recognize.

Pair the layer with the Motor Vehicle Use Map to check which forest roads you can legally drive to reach a site, and with Land Ownership to confirm you are on public land. Bring your own water and plan for no toilets; the Drinking Water and Toilets layers show the nearest facilities. It is a starting point for van life, overlanding and budget road trips.
